As the day starts, we are seeing temperatures around 80° as of press time, which is very good despite the earlier morning cloudiness and spotty shower activity with Dew points currently hovering around 70° to 64°, and 70° locally at press time. With this being said, the current sounding from NWS Detroit/Pontiac at 8 am show a bit of wind shear in the upper levels.

We are expected to see discrete cells form, before congealing into a line that will sweep from the southwest to the northeast. Additionally, the tornado threat is stronger if any individual cells try to move east/southeast while moving NE. Large hail up to golf ball size and Damaging winds of up to 60 mph are expected. The main timeframe has been updated to be 4 pm to 10 pm.
Remain alert for rapidly changing weather conditions and keep an eye on the sky. I expect a Severe Thunderstorm Watch to be issued sometime between 12 pm and 3 pm. As always, I will monitor the NWS and SPC for updates.
